Fatmir Seremeti
Candidate as Athletes' Representative of Paris 2024 IPC
Dear fellow paralympian,
I am excited to share my candidacy for the role of Athletes' Representative within the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). This position is more than a title – it's a commitment to advocate for the rights, needs, and aspirations of all Paralympic athletes. With a deep-rooted passion for the Paralympic Movement and a career dedicated to advancing parasports, I believe I can represent our collective voice effectively.
Professional and athletic background
For over two decades, I've been deeply involved in parasports, both as an athlete and in various professional capacities. My journey has been marked by:
- Competing in three Paralympic Games, proudly representing Sweden in goalball.
- Achieving multiple national and international medals, a testament to my dedication and perseverance.
These experiences have provided me with a firsthand understanding of the challenges and triumphs that come with being a Paralympic athlete. Beyond the field, my professional work has consistently focused on promoting accessibility and inclusion:
- Sports Consultant at FIFH Malmö: Where I've driven initiatives in recruitment and business development, ensuring that sports remain accessible to all.
- Ombudsman for the Swedish Association of the Visually Impaired: Advocating for the rights and inclusion of individuals with visual impairments.
- Founder of Insight Visions: Collaborating with organizations like Scandic Hotels, Google, and IKEA Museum to elevate accessibility standards and champion inclusive practices.
Advocacy and influence
My commitment extends beyond professional roles. As an influencer and author, I've used my platform to educate and inspire others about life with a visual impairment. My autobiography, "From Darkness to Success," reflects my journey from overcoming obstacles to achieving excellence. I am passionate about using my story to motivate others and promote a more inclusive society.
My vision for the role
As athletes' representative, I am eager to bring my experience and passion to the IPC, focusing on:
- Enhancing Accessibility: Advocating for higher accessibility standards within parasports.
- Promoting Inclusion: Ensuring an inclusive environment for athletes of all backgrounds and abilities.
- Fostering Global Collaboration: Working closely with IPC members and athletes worldwide to advance our shared goals.
In Conclusion
Thank you for considering my candidacy for Athletes' Representative. I am eager to further discuss how my experiences and vision can contribute to the IPC's ongoing success and the future of the Paralympic Movement.
