The Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games 2026 will be the largest sporting event ever held in Sweden for people with intellectual disabilities.

More than 2,000 athletes from Sweden and 15 other countries will come to Malmö for the sporting experience of a lifetime.

People with intellectual disabilities have poorer health than the general population. In addition, knowledge about this group is often limited among healthcare professionals.

Therefore, Healthy Athletes is an important part of the Special Olympics.

Health Screenings, 4–5 September

At the Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games in Malmö, we will offer all athletes health screenings in five different disciplines:

• FUNfitness – physical fitness
• Health Promotion – lifestyle habits
• Strong Minds – mental health
• Opening Eyes – vision and eye health
• Special Smiles – oral and dental health

The Healthy Athletes stations will be open on Friday and Saturday.

To date, more than 2.2 million health screenings have been conducted worldwide.
This will be the third time Healthy Athletes is held in Sweden.
