Welcome to Healthy Athletes in Malmö!
People with intellectual disabilities have poorer health than the general population. In addition, knowledge about this group is often limited among healthcare professionals.
Therefore, Healthy Athletes is an important part of the Special Olympics.
To date, more than 2.2 million health screenings have been conducted worldwide.
This will be the third time Healthy Athletes is held in Sweden.
Health Screenings, 4 September
At the Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games in Malmö, we will offer all athletes health screenings in five different disciplines:

At all Healthy Athlete stations, you will be welcomed by volunteers who are knowledgeable about health:
- People who work in dental care
- People who work in medical care
- People who work in health care
- People who work with eye health
- People who work with mental health
- Students who are studying to work in one of the areas above
All volunteers are there to help you.
You choose one or more stations that suit you.
For example, if you have started to see blurry, it may be a good idea
to visit the Opening Eyes station and have your eyesight checked.
Important to remember:
- Go to regular health check-ups in your everyday life.
- The health stations do not replace a doctor’s visit.
- The health stations are only a complementary service.

The Healthy Athletes stations are open:
For international participants:
- Friday 10:00–16:00

When you take part in examinations, we register data about your health.
The information is recorded without names.
Using this data, we want to improve health and medical care
for people with intellectual disabilities.
