
Floorball
Floorball is a fast-paced and technical sport.
It is a team ball sport played indoors using sticks and a small plastic ball.
The objective is to score goals by getting the ball into the opponent’s goal,
and physical tackling is not permitted.
Competition
There will be two different competition formats in floorball at the Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games 2026:
Special Olympics Floorball and Unified Floorball.
Special Olympics Floorball
Matches will be played with mixed teams (both men and women).
Playing format: 4-a-side (including goalkeeper)
Age limit: From 12 years
Information about the Competition
- Maximum number of teams: 16.
- Maximum 10 players per team.
- Maximum 3 staff members on the bench.
- Divisioning match: 1 x 7 minutes.
- Match duration: 2 x 10 minutes.
- Rules: SO rules.
Unified Floorball
Unified floorball is a competition format in which individuals with and without intellectual disabilities play together on the same team.
All participants play together and support one another to promote inclusion, community, and enjoyment.
The game follows the standard rules of floorball using sticks and a ball, with a strong emphasis on fair play and team spirit.
Unified floorball enables more people to participate and enjoy sport together.
